At one point, when someone close to one of the party members dies in front of them, none of them express any sorrow. Even worse, they end up throwing racist comments at one another, not even playful jabs, and these aren't even addressed by the other party members. I didn't really feel a sense of camaraderie between the party members either. In retrospect, it was pretty funny, but it’s a glaring issue that’s noticeable every time you head off into a fight. A character could say ‘Why?!’ and an enemy would have just been killed off. A lot of them were poorly matched to what was going on in battle. Not just the normal conversation between the characters, but also their phrases during battle. In addition, there were a number of inconsistencies with pronunciations of certain in-game names for characters and cities alike.Įventually, I switched to the Japanese voice acting to see if it was more bearable that way, and for a while it was, but it also made me realize that the translation was just too awkward. On the other hand, however, there was Dagmar, a beefy sorcerer who had the perfect gruffness to his voice for his sort of character. The demigods’ leader herself, Ulan, sounded the least leader-like and had zero conviction whatsoever in her voice, making it an absolute snooze to listen to. While the game gives you the option to choose between the Japanese and English voiceover, I like to usually stick with the English voiceover for video games. But from seeing (very few) updates, i doubt they fixed the game. The second being the hit or mostly-miss voice acting. So i don't know if the problem's got fixed or not. This was my review when the game released. ![]() Hopefully the devs will improve the game. I could go on more detail, but i guess from these points, they're enough to show that i don't recommend the game. Well, they have way to check what skills/ nodes from specific class, by opening the journal/ compendium. So either you have to accept and job change to said class, and if you don't like it, load to your previous saves. (Think of it like highlight of your class). You can't see the preview of the class, usable equipments, and so on. As i said, the art style is the best aspect of the game. Your character will change the appearance based on the job. Job system looks cool, with using constellation as the progression system (similar to FFX Grid. What's that? i should wear stun-proof accessory? Yeah, it cost 10k a piece. In this game, you can get stunned whole-party 4 turns in a row from those knights. You'd think, "just do magic damage then" Yes, but that's not the problem. Is this the intended way of playing by the devs?Ģ knights type enemies that's invulnerable against physical damage. Most of the time, i had to spam revive item while killing and reducing the numbers of those enemies. Even if you put your nuker on the back, the enemies can still attack you repeatedly. Like i said earlier, position don't matter. You'd think, "ah, it's not too bad right?" Yes, it's not that bad IF you can protect your Damage dealer. There are 2 types of enemy-groups that made me think, this game is not well-designed.ħ (seven) enemies that have quite high speed, and heavy hitting insects. Couple of weird placed enemies, but nothing too serious. ![]() On early chapters, the enemies are balanced. Which is okay and flexible enough, IF the enemies are not so badly designed. At first, i thought the tag will work like FFX, where you can tag, and go right away taking action. The positional lineup? enemies can still hit your DPS (mage) protected on the back side of your formation, unlike Valkyrie Profile. BUT then, the gameplay disappoint me.Īt first, i thought this game is inspired by Valkyrie Profile (with 4 diamond lineup, photon/crystal freeze enemies, and so on). This was one of the biggest reason why i followed this game from a long time. The whole characters with different sprite classes, and even their enemies have distinct appearance. ![]() This review is written at the desert area at chapter 3. Tl dr - at this point, i don't recommend it.
